Well that's me Emma Lucy Brown the lady who dreams and creates wedded foot bliss with the arranged love match of style and comfort. A true love match, socks that you will want to return to again and again.
I am the Founder of Denim Star® 26 years (including studies) in the fashion Industry Central Saint Martins Alumni.
Born in Harrow the suburbs of London and married to a Mexican, I am certainly someone who has always had an international mindset. I am known for being a tenacious and charismatic character with a love for all things quintessentially British as well as my belief that the planet needs more innovative and environmentally conscious apparel and accessories.
Early 80s Denim love
My obsession with denim started in the early 80s. Of course very happy just hanging around with my faithful OshKosh Dungarees.
Central Saint Martins 1997
After enrolling as a student at the tender age of seventeen at the original fashion university, the prestigious, Central Saint Martins London in Women’s Knitwear Design, I zealously hurtled my way along fashion’s industry as a designer/developer in: knitwear, soft separates, outerwear, swimwear, accessories and textiles for 26 years after having worked on both women’s and children’s brands. Taking me to work in countries far and wide from Thailand, Cambodia, India, Bahrain, and Turkey.
Of course my graduating collection featured denims and my denim love affair blossomed, igniting a passion to style denims in more ways than one! Guiding me to search my North Star morphing into what becomes 'Denim Star®'.
Our World Turned Upsidedown! 2020
My goodness none of us were ready for a world disaster. COVID! As a world collective this has added to our body memory, that is for sure.
Anyway as a child my way to cope with times of change, was to create. So it was only natural to digress back to a dreamscape mindset and start painting my magic during this uncertain time for us all!
Over many rag trade years my creative mind was always busy conjuring up ideas. With COVID's time of solace I was able to piece together my puzzle and, Denim Star® was born 2020. With the feeling of nothing to loose I launched a Kickstarter Campaign which was fully funded December 2020.
Pure London Feb' 23
From my drawing board, Denim Star® was ethical from the beginning! With all that I built into the brands structure was vetted by Fashion Sustainable Journalist the tenacious Olivia Pinnock. And awarded with 3 SDG's Sustainable Development Goals.
Denim Star® launched as a wholesale option to independent high street Boutique Buyers, at 'Pure London's' new hot buying destination 'Purely Sustainable'.
Denim Star® becomes stocked in a number of high street boutiques. Helping to keep our beloved British High Streets alive!
